In wake of 2010 flood crisis, Government of Pakistan in
collaboration alongside Provincial Governments have set up
Citizens Damage Compensation Program (CDCP) to support and
provide financial relief to the affected households of all
four provinces i.e Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab,
Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The
Council of Common Interest (a constitutional body headed
by the Prime Minister, including the Chief Ministers of
all provinces) approved immediate payment of cash benefit
amounting to PKR 20,000 to flood affected families under
phase-I of the Programme that was jointly financed by the
Federal and Provincial Governments. Following the successful
completion of Phase – I, the Phase – II of the Programme has
been envisaged in collaboration with The World Bank,
DFID-UKAID & USAID keeping in view the following objectives;
To support the recovery of flood affected households by
assisting the GoP in strengthening the implementation of
the CDCP.
To provide cash grants to flood affected households of PKR
40,000 in two tranches, each PKR 20,000.
